- Media Rewards is a platform where you can win prizes by sharing your media habits, information such as which ads you likely have seen by matching ambient audio content, without storing any audio, which is shared to third parties anonymously. If you are part of the Media Rewards programme and you downloaded the mobile app, we collect information about your TV, video and radio habits, to enable our partners to provide you, and consumers with similar media habits, with more relevant media content and more relevant advertising. The microphone is used to identify media played on or within proximity of your device. We can only match specific audio frequencies of advertisements and content that we have access to. This works as follows; the app converts sound within proximity of your device to a string of numbers named ‘audio fingerprints’. These audio fingerprints are matched against equivalent data from the audio of our advertisements and content. This enables us to securely and anonymously match the content that you have been exposed to. All other sound is NOT identifiable, audio is never recorded or stored. It is also NOT possible to decode audio fingerprints back into an audible format.
